Reminder: Your job isn’t to be the most important person at camp—it’s to make everyone else feel like they are. Set the tone by serving your staff, campers, and even the maintenance team with humility and purpose.

3. Empower, Don’t Micromanage

Reminder: Great directors don’t do everything—they equip others to do great work. Trust your team with real responsibility, coach them through setbacks, and celebrate their wins. Leadership is multiplying, not managing.
